The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Bridge course is a focused upgrade program designed for certified First Responders who want to advance their training. This emergency medical responder bridge builds on existing knowledge and introduces more advanced assessment, life support, and patient transport skills through hands-on, scenario-based learning.

Delivered in a condensed 40-hour format, this course prepares participants to transition into EMR-level responsibilities. Training combines practical skills practice with video, media presentations, and realistic emergency scenarios to support confident performance in real-life situations.

Who This Course Is For

This program is intended for individuals who already hold First Responder certification and want to progress to the EMR level. The emergency medical responder bridge is well suited for professionals working in active response environments.

Prerequisites

Participants must meet the following requirement before enrolling.

Required

  • Valid Canadian Red Cross First Responder certification

Completion of this program may meet the minimum requirement for further training pathways, including the WEMS program.

Completion Requirements

To successfully complete the course, participants must meet all evaluation and participation standards.

  • Demonstration of all required practical skills
  • Completion of two evaluated scenarios
      • One medical
      • One trauma
  • Minimum 75% pass mark on the written exam
  • 100% attendance and active participation

Certification Issued

Upon successful completion, participants receive:
