Stay Safe – Safety Awareness & First Aid for Youth Ages 9–13

Basic Safety Training

Stay Safe is a fun, practical program from the Canadian Red Cross designed to help children ages 9–13 make safe choices at home, school, and in the community. This youth-focused course teaches basic safety awareness and simple first aid skills through interactive lessons and hands-on activities. Participants learn how to check for safety, call for help, and care for someone when needed.

VO2 Health Focus proudly offers Stay Safe as part of our youth training programs. Our small class sizes and learner-centered approach ensure each child receives personal support while learning real-life safety habits. With courses available in English and French and modern training equipment, we provide high-quality basic safety training in a positive, encouraging environment.

Why Stay Safe Training Matters

As children become more independent, they face new situations without constant adult supervision. Whether walking home, visiting friends, or spending short periods alone, kids need to know how to stay safe. Stay Safe teaches essential safety awareness skills that help children feel prepared and confident.

Through hands-on activities and guided discussion, children learn:

  • How to assess their surroundings
  • How to recognize unsafe conditions
  • When and how to call for help
  • How to use a basic first aid skill for minor injuries
  • How to stay calm during unexpected situations

Our instructors focus on building confidence and decision-making skills so participants can apply basic safety training in daily life—not just during the course.
