Marine Basic First Aid – CPR/AED Level C Certification for Marine Environments

Marine Basic Safety Training

Marine Basic First Aid is a specialized program for individuals who work on or around water, including marine crews, fishing professionals, vessel operators, and safety personnel. This Transport Canada–approved certification meets the requirements of Transport Publication (TP) 13008E and prepares participants to manage emergencies in marine environments, where conditions differ from land-based settings. Through hands-on practice and realistic scenarios, marine basic first aid training builds confidence in responding to medical emergencies on the water.

VO2 Health Focus delivers this training using a practical, learner-centered approach. Our instructors combine demonstrations, discussion, and skills practice with modern training equipment. Because marine emergencies often require quick decisions, marine basic safety training focuses on real situations from the marine and fishing industries to ensure skills are easy to apply.

We offer both in-class and blended learning options and are the only provider offering training in English, French, and Portuguese, making marine basic first aid training accessible to diverse marine communities.

Why Marine Basic First Aid Matters

Working on the water presents unique risks, including moving vessels, changing weather, limited medical access, and environmental hazards. Marine basic first aid training prepares participants to manage these challenges by combining standard first aid skills with marine-specific safety knowledge.

Learners are trained to stabilize injuries, manage shock, control bleeding, and respond to breathing or cardiac emergencies—while accounting for marine conditions. Unlike general first aid courses, marine basic safety training also addresses risks such as hypothermia, drowning, exposure, and injuries common in marine and fishing operations. This makes the course essential for those meeting Transport Canada certification requirements.
