Training is delivered using dynamic techniques such as video presentations, media demonstrations, skills practice sessions, discussions, and scenarios based on real-life situations. Our First Responder training program covers essential topics such as the patient assessment model, airway management, tourniquet use, and traction splinting. Participants will develop the ability to recognize medical emergencies and deliver appropriate interventions, ensuring the highest standard of pre-hospital care. Emphasis is placed on up-to-date protocols and evidence-based practices tailored to the Canadian context.

Completion Requirements

  • Successful demonstration of all required skills
  • Successful completion of two evaluated scenarios (one medical, one trauma)
  • Minimum 75% pass mark on written exam
  • 100% attendance and participation throughout the course

Prerequisite

  • None

Certification

  • 3-year First Responder certification upon successful completion

Re-Certification

  • 20 hours In-class
  • For participants with a current, non-expired First Responder Certification from the Canadian Red Cross or equivalent agency.
